Yes and that all looks like it should. I was checking the Sims 4 Packs folder was in the right location. It must be in the same location as the base game, which it is, but probably because you've re-downloaded everything. Make sure not to touch that folder as it contains all your downloaded packs. If you move it to another location or delete anything out of it Origin will want to re-download the affected pack. okay, and any idea why I've got to redownload all packs?
usually it doesn't make me do it when I update the game, only this time

Maybe you moved the folder without realising it? Can be so easily done. Have you changed the game library location in Origin? Were they actually all re-downloading or verifying? so I just went into the game and then exited again to restart it and I couldn't open the game because it was updating and so I waited and then it straight away start re downloading all the packs.
an then I saw a different post of someone moving them and so I moved them to the sims 4 folder and moved them back but the packs had already been redownloading...

The Packs folder never goes into the Sims 4 folder, it MUST be in the same location as the base game. Leave it there and all should be good now.
