Re: macOS thread - updated to include 10.15 Catalina

I downloaded the newest update last night (mac update) and ever since origin won't open at all.

Game: Sims 4

Expansion/game/stuff packs: Get to work, movie hangout, romantic garden, vampires and the free christmas one.

I've tried resetting origin and opening the game itself (and origin) in multiple different ways and it tries to open but after about a second it stops and closes so I don't get a change to click on the buttons at the top of the mac (the black bar with file, edit, help etc.)

Please help, I want to play Sims 4 again lol

Not sure what you did to reset Origin (run the reset tool?) but have you tried repairing the game in Origin?

Have you tried moving out the Sims 4 folder from Documents > Electronic Arts onto your desktop and then seeing if the game will load?

What Mac do you have and what version of macOS did you upgrade from?

I moved the "Electronic Arts" file to desktop. However, my sims 4 open, then it freezes when the green EA sign shows up. When I open the thing for force quitting applications, it say that my Sims 4 is not responding. It was woking fine, 2 hours ago.

Try updating your OS to the current version of Mojave which is the final release now. Sims 3, if you had it running previously, and Sims 4 run fine. Have tested both games and they run great.

tbh, I am to scared to install Mojave as I am afraid my Sims 4 won't work anymore. As the last post in this threat was almost three months ago I wanted to ask: is it now safe to install Mojave? Will I get any errors while playing? I put like 150 euros into the sims 4 and would be devastated if all of it were for nothing.

    macOS high Sierra 10.13.6

    Thanks in advance!

@Inenator  TS4 runs just fine in OS Mojave, according to the many people who have updated.  And your computer can certainly run it without issues.  But it's a good idea to back up your game folder (the one in Documents) before updating; in fact, it's always best to back up all of your important data when your computer is about to get a new operating system.

You can transfer your entire game folder to an external hard drive or thumb drive, or, if you don't have one, you can manually upload it to your iCloud drive.  Just be sure to disable iCloud after the update, regardless of whether you've used it, or your game folder might be moved to cloud storage automatically, along with the rest of the contents of your Documents folder.  Here's a visual, if it helps:
