- Anonymous8 years agoThis honestly just happened to me and I managed to fix it by looking through some mods I had put in the game today. I had a lot of cc and mods I wanted and I didn't want to delete them all of course. So I sorted through all my files and right clicked on them and then clicked on sort by date and I saw everysingle one I put in on today and pulled them out . And my game started perfectly. So id say for anyone else just try taking out a couple mods . I even kept 3 so know I have to find this bad boy that caused the problem that's luckly not In the game anymore đ I love mods and cc just have to figure out the safe ones happy simming đ

Hi @MEG1020,
Have you considered following @iixv21's advice of sorting the files by date and removing the ones you installed during your 'cc shopping'? You can read their experience in her post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-Mac/My-Sims-4-game-won-t-open/m-p/6125390/highlight/true#M8310

Hi @peachyvirgo,
If the issue is having incompatible custom content installed, then there's no way of knowing how much you will need to remove. âšī¸ You will to keep removing until you find and remove the cc causing the issue.
Some more information about this topic here: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/the-sims/the-sims-4/mods-and-the-sims-4-game-updates/
I hope you find the problem soon!

Hey all! If you ever encounter this issue again, take everything from your mod folder and move it to a temporary placement. Then, see if the game runs without it. If it does, it means something in your CC/mods is no longer working. A great way to determine which ones are causing this, is by downloading the Mod Conflict detector! [Edited by EA_Mai: links to third party software not allowed]
This will show you exactly what is causing the issue, and you can easily delete the items, just like that! Let me know if it helped any of you.
Happy simming!
The mod conflict detector is Windows only, this is the Mac forum but thanks đ
How do you delete Custom Content?
Move the Mods folder out of the Sims 4 folder then reload your game.

I had 224 cc and my game wouldn't open, so I got rid of a ton of my cc and now had 35 and it still won't work âšī¸
What happens when you try and load the game with no CC?
I've tried it many times, doesn't work!;(
And how about if you move the entire Sims 4 folder out and let the game recreate a new one?
- Anonymous8 years agoMy sims still won't open I deleted all my cc and all what happened was it goes on the game then to the sims 4 load screen then turns white and it won't close
thanks it worked!

Well guys I had the same problem as well. If you followed the steps that said put the Sims 4 on your desktop! Don't worry it works. You just take out all the cc you have, and then put it back in little by little that's how I did mine and it worked!

I deleted some of my cc, and I might have deleted some of my mods but I am not sure, but anyways when I deleted some of the cc, and some of the mods, if I did delete my mods, it still does not launch Sims 4. 'm going to try doing some other stuff. I hope that the stuff that I do will launch the Sims 4!
- @kaoamo
Please go into Documents > Electronic Arts and move the entire Sims 4 folder to the desktop then try to launch your game. - thanks!
But that deleted all of my custom content, and my households. Is there a different solution?
Moving it back won't work
Wait, I have my households back, but no custom content
I have tried everything on here and my mouse when I click on the game just does the annoying spinny thing and then just stops and nothing happens and origin also wont load in either I have taken all of my cc out and still wont work I have a ton of space PLS HELP ME I HAVE SPENT 100s OF DOLLARS I WOULD LIKE TO PLAY THE GAME THAT I PAID FOR
Please run the Origin reset tool, move your Sims 4 folder to the desktop and launch the game - does it work? If so it should be like new as all your saves are in the folder you moved. Let us know how you get on đ
- @iixv21 YEESSSSSSS THANK SO MUCH, this worked
