Re: Retry or Quit Issue

Let's see how the games were installed then 😉

@Add2019, do you need to insert your DVD to play the game? If you usually insert the DVD in your computer when you are going to play, try not to do it this time. Does the game work even if you have no disc?

I tried this method and a pop up appears saying there is no disc. So I need the disc to play the game.

Thanks @Add2019. In this case, I recommend you to uninstall the disc version of the game and install the games through Origin. That should help 🙂

First of all, you should redeem your codes in Origin or thesims3.com if you haven't done that already. To redeem your codes, you would need to open Origin, log into your account (same account you have the base game in) and go to Origin > Redeem a Product Code in the main menu. You can also do it in thesims3.com, but keep in mind that each code can only be redeemed once, and you want to redeem the base game and your packs in the same account!

If you don't have the Origin application installed in your computer, you can get it from here.

Once redeemed, it's time to uninstall the disc version of the game. Our Mac helper, @Bluebellflora explains here how she uninstalls her The Sims 3 games from her Mac.

When the uninstallation is complete, just click on the game in your Game Library to start the download through Origin.

Let us know if you have any questions 🙂

  • hey there

i had the same issue ad did what you said but when i went back to download through origin it said i had to install through an external application outside of origin which took me straight back through to the manual installation process! I have no idea what to do and its such a shame as I've been trying to play the sims 3 showtime for over a year now but have had no luck due to the 'retry or quit' error and have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times! If you have any advice that would be great!

@deborah1403  What OS do you currently have?  The last several versions will fail to authenticate TS3 discs, so installing through Origin is the only option.  However, mac users have been experiencing problems with Origin in the last few days, especially those users who are behind on their OS updates.  EA is working on that particular issue but has not yet resolved it.

In the meantime, you can try running the Origin reset tool for macs.

Hiya! Thanks for replying and so soon! i am currently updating my mac to macOS High Sierra 10.13.6, although i'm not sure if this is what you were referring to in terms of updates.I will use the link to run the Origin reset tool and try and run my game. I'll get back to you with my results. Thanks!
