@Bluebellflora So laptop mode DOES work... but it completely ruins the game. While there's no weird boxy shadows, there's also no shadows in general. It looks weird. Do you know of any other graphics settings I could use to fix it (I already used ssao, it only works for a couple of days)? Thank you!

Editing the SSAO will stick until the game is updated or you run a repair, you will have to repeat it. That and laptop mode are the only known fixes at the moment.

@Bluebellflora Hi, I've done all of the steps from the solution on page 1. I have moved out all mods/cc, repaired the game, changed SSAO values to false, changed graphic settings to all suggested settings, and the only fix is laptop mode which completely ruins the game!! Are there any other known fixes or suggested options for this? For reference, I'm on a MacBook Pro, 13" 2017 with Intel 640 graphics.
