Re: Sims 3 Unknown Error Occurred HELP! (MAC)

@ShandeeCloie

Can you check the following -

  1. Open the hidden folder by clicking anywhere on your desktop then click on Go in the menu bar, hold down Alt and click on the Library folder that appears
  2. Look in the following folders for anything that has Sims 3, Cider or Transgaming in the title:

Caches > com.transgaming...

Cookies > com.transgaming...

Preferences > com.ea.origin.plist

Preferences > com.transgaming...

Preferences > The Sims 3 Preferences

Saved Application State

    Yes... I've checked these folders in the Library and deleted the files that were stated by you and the guide you sent me... but Origin thinks its still installed. I'm not sure if Origin is the one at fault or me. I've also noticed that some of the files (such as The Sims 3 Preferences, a com.transgaming files, a com.ea.origin file etc.) reappear when I click the play button for The Sims 3...

    So there are no hidden files left in the Library folder, and no trace of Sims 3 in your Applications folder, yet when you press play in Origin (which shouldn't show up) the files recreate? That would indicate that something is still left behind. You have got rid of all the base game files and all the EP/SP files too?

    After being 100% sure that there are no files or folders left in the Library folder, Documents folder and Applications folder, and you have emptied your trash and restarted your Mac, please run the reset Origin tool again. Then delete the Origin app in your Applications folder. Empty trash, restart your Mac then download and install Origin again. Then download the base game, apply the manual patch and check it is working.

    Thank You so much for your advice... 🙂

    I ended up restoring my Mac (backing up my important files of course) due to my Mac slowing down so the hidden files are now gone, although I was unable to try your advice.. Thank you so much for trying to help me tho... 🙂

    No problem, just pleased it's working again for you. Those hidden files can be really tricky to find and so easy to miss one 🙂
