Re: The Sims 4 Mac Legacy Edition thread

I currently have Mac OS Catalina 10.15.1

I thought I was covered as far as not having to download the Legacy Edition, but it seems that origin was trying to download it today.

Here are my specs:

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014)

Processor: 2.5 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7

Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2GB

                Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

If I need to provide anything else, please let me know! I also apologize if there is already a thread somewhere solving this question. Thank you!

@JenniferFerSure Are you certain you were forced to download the Legacy Edition? If you completed the install, what is the version number at the bottom of the Main Menu screen?

@JenniferFerSure I have the same problem and I also have Mac OS Catalina. Did you get your problem solved? 'Cause I haven't... And I've got the problem for several weeks now.
  • @cecilinder Hey yes i downloaded catalina. Once that was done i went onto origin but searched for sims 4 so it didnt automatically open the legacy version and then it played like normal again xx

@Pr1nc3ssam13 I have tried to uninstall the sims, and now I've installed it again. It asks med to downloade the legacy edition? But as far as I'm concerned, I don't need the Legacy Edition, because my Mac isn't that old. Right? Any suggestions?
  • @cecilinder Are you sure mac is up to date? I didn't uninstall mine. I definitely don't understand why it would be asking you to download legacy if you dont need it.

Sorry im not super technical. Can get online chat help about it may be able to help more.

@Pr1nc3ssam13 My mac is up to date, however the update for a new version Mac OS is available in Appstore. I read some comments and in some cases it would make everything worse to install it. Because my computer might not have the capacity etc. to run a newer version. So I rather not do it.

But thank you anyway. I'm not that technical either, but now my game works again! I had deleted everything that had a relation to sims on my computer. Then, as I mentioned, I installed it again. It then asked me to downloade legacy, I did (like I've tried so so so many times before), and then it worked!

Hello. I bought the bundle with (among others) "Cottage Living". The other applications work but Cottage Living is not visible in play. None of the objects have been added.
I tried searching for a solution, but it seems a lot of the solutions arent available anymore (legacy edition, metal).

How do I solve this? Can I even play Cottage Living?

I have an iMac with MacOS Sierra, version 10.12.6, from mid 2011.

    Best Regards, Jenny

    @HHCOMPUTERS

Your Mac can only run the Legacy version of the game as it does not support Metal however, the Legacy version is no longer available so you cannot run The Sims 4 on your Mac. More information in the opening post on page 1.

No, you cannot play with the Cottage Living pack on your Mac because it does not support Metal. More info in the opening post on page 1.
