Thank you!
Hello, I have followed all of the above instructions with inserting
card 0x8a5c "Intel Iris Plus Graphics" $cardLevelMedium $resolutionMedium
into my GraphicsCards.sgr file but it is still not registered in my config.log. I think I just might have a slight wrong bit of code as I was using the info for a MacBook Air and I have a 2020 MacBook Pro 13 inch.
Here is my info:

Great job though!
@Bluebellflora Hello I thought I should ask here instead of opening a new thread. I just switched from a Macbook M1 Max to Macbook Pro M2 Max (16 inch, 1TB SSD, 32GB RAM) and I'm getting the "unrecognized video card" message.
I already added my video card manually as you showed above and when doing that, the game recognizes it. But today, Origin crashed, so I did some troubleshooting (reset Origin/cleared cache manually and lastly repaired the game and also removed the Sims 4 folder from Documents (for a fresh start so to speak)) - and now when I open the game I get the same message again.
My first question is: Do I have to reenter my graphics card data in the GraphicsCard.sgr manually after ever repair/patch/update/pack purchased etc.?
Secondly:
As I described above, I just switched laptops. Now I did that using Migration Assistant and all my documents, games, saves etc. have been transferred. But I didn't have to reinstall Sims 4 on my new Macbook. Could this be the reason why my graphics card is unrecognized?
All my saves, houses etc. are fine I always keep backups anyway.
By the way there is so much helpful stuff here on the forums and I have learned so much about how to troubleshoot myself for most issues! In this case however, I just want to make sure I'm doing everything correctly 🙂

Great that you've found the resources you normally need here 🙂
When you edited the GraphicsCards.sgr file was it the one copied into the ConfigOverride folder in the Sims 4 folder or the one in the base game installation files?
What does the Config file show under Found and Supported?
I personally hate Migration Assistant and always set up a new Mac manually with nice new clean installs of software. Yep, it may well be that the migration didn't fully copy like for like or something got corrupted during the migration. @Bluebellflora Thanks for your quick response!
I actually decided to completely reset my MacBook, I regretted using Migration Assistant. I found cache files as old as 2016 in my Library! LOL So I did that today and reinstalled The Sims. But again, as I opened the game, it says "unrecognised video card". Anyways, I'm happy to have a clean Mac and to have ruled out that possibility!
I edited the GraphicsCards.sgr file that I found Under Applications -> The Sims 4 -> Show package contents -> Content -> Resources -> GraphicsCard.sgr
Then I scrolled to the very end where it says:
card 0x0000 "Apple A12Z" $cardLevelUber $resolutionHigh
card 0x0000 "Apple M1" $cardLevelUber $resolutionHigh $cardLevelUber
card 0x0000 "Apple M1 Max" $cardLevelUber $resolutionHigh $cardLevelUber
card 0x0000 "Apple M1 Pro" $cardLevelUber $resolutionHigh $cardLevelUber
endAnd I added to the list
card 0x0000 "Apple M2 Max" $cardLevelUber $resolutionHigh $cardLevelUber
then I saved the file, closed it and restarted the game. When I then look into the Config File in my Documents The Sims 4 Folder it says Found:1 Supported:1 (so problem solved I guess).
But whenever I repair the game it seems to reset. My Mac is also updated to the latest software.
Did I edit the wrong file?
If I have to edit the file every time it's no big deal honestly. I just want to know if that's normal, maybe there's going to be an update for M2 Chip in the future so it's better supported? Or maybe I did something completely wrong lol
Thanks for your help again!

Yes, a repair will replace the original files. You can override this by placing a copy of the GraphicsCards.sgr file in the ConfigOverride folder in the Sims 4 folder 🙂 https://bluebellflora.com/2020/09/03/what-is-the-configoverride-folder-editing-sims-4-graphics-files-the-easy-way/ @Bluebellflora Oh that's awesome! You're amazing thank you so much!! Have a nice day 🙂
