Screensaver causes game to freeze

when I leave my computer for lpng enough so that the screensaver comes on, my game will freeze. When I log back into my computer(I have a mac) the whole game is just frozen. And it never unfreezes. So i have to force my computer to turn off and then turn it on again, losing all progress I’ve made.
