Sims 3 Stuck on Loading Screen [MAC]

Help! I have an old MacBook Pro (2011/2012?) and I recently downloaded the Late Night expansion pack for Sims 3, but I'm having some trouble opening the game. When I first click on the game, the launcher pops up, and I click the play button. But then, instead of going to the loading screen, the game just freezes on the initial blue and green Sims logo screen. I've tried force closing it and reopening it, but it always freezes on this screen. I did some digging in help forums and found a post that said to make a backup copy of the Sims 3 folder, put it on a flash drive, and open it from there. That actually worked for me last night, but today when I tried to open it (from the flash drive, Origin, and my Apps folder), I got stuck on that Sims logo loading screen.

I'd appreciate any help or advice please!

Thanks

I just tried that, and it still didn't work ): It still got stuck on that blue and green Sims logo screen and froze.

Edit: I just found a guide on how to bypass the launcher, so I did that... And it works!!!

If I don't reply straight away it is because I'm busy. You don't need to create a new thread for your issue 🙂

Can you please give me the full spec. of your machine. Instructions on how to do so and what info needed here - https://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-Mac/READ-FIRST-Sims-3-Mac-Help-Guides-and-Troubleshooting/m-p/4756624/highlight/true#M4

Sorry! I'm just anxious to get this fixed! As for my computer specs...

    macOS Sierra

    10.12.6

    Macbook Pro (13" early 2011)

Processor: 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5

    Memory: 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB

I'm not running any antivirus software, and I only have Late Night EP installed. I don't have any custom content or mods or anything either.

Also, I tried to do a clean uninstall/reinstall of Late Night and then followed the steps you initially gave to fix the problem. It got rid of the Unknown Error (woo!), but I'm back to square one where I'm stuck on that blue and green Sims 3 logo screen before the game loads.
