Sims 4 after update 03 2025 - can't open

Sims 4 after update 03 2025 - can't open restaurant and veterinary clinic - iMac BigSur

Hallo,

Technical problems on iMac in German I have unfortunately not found any more. Can someone help me here?

after the last update I can no longer open restaurants. Either the game freezes immediately when loading or when opening in build mode when I change something. I can't even delete it and if I manage to replace it I have the same problem again. Then you see a black square above the restaurant in the city view. 😳 Before, a window always appears that the restaurant was built with “moveobjects”, but it is always the same situation whether I have entered the cheat or not.

I also tried to place the restaurant unfurnished. That all worked and after I had almost set it up (without moveobjects) it suddenly froze again.

I tried it in different neighborhoods and game states. I have no script mods just normal CC and have tried without and also with, no change. It mainly affects restaurants also created by Maxis and partly also trade.

I don't have the new expansion pack “From hobby to business”. Maybe it's due to a setting.

I would be very happy if someone could help me, Anches

    Bluebellflora Hallo,

I had tried everything possible: repairing, deleting all cache files, recreating the Sims 4 documents folder, dragging the mods folder to the desktop, lowering the graphics settings. But as soon as I had my own save in the game no matter how old, the same problem kept occurring. All shops, restaurants and animal clinics no longer opened.  I had the same problem with all saves from older backup or new, regardless of whether mods folder ware in the game or not.

So I had an idea: my macOS 11 BigSur was too old for my Mac and I upgraded to macOS Ventura. Everything loads much faster now and everything can be opened again in every save!  😁

It wasn't the mods folder or saves.
But I took the opportunity to minimize the CC in the mods folder by more than half and will definitely be more careful with it now. And I will also regularly delete all the caches and renew the resource file in Mods.

I'm really pleased and can now really enjoy my game again.  Many thanks for your help and have a nice Easter Monday.😊

Great! And thanks for confirming a newer version of macOS worked. I wonder if updating the OS fixed gremlins in your old installation, very interesting :)

Bluebellflora , Yes I'm amazed too! I just think my Mac is more compatible with the newer macOS 13 and that's why it's working again.

I have a Mac with M1 chip and integrated Retina Display and 16 GB.  Because of the M1 chip, I had entered “open with Rosetta” in the information because of the new update, but it didn't open Sims 4. Then I removed it again and everything works perfectly 😁

By the way, the Sims 2 collection for Mac also runs fast and smoothly. Only the Sims 3 still has the same problems, red screen when you move away from the house (I think because of Retina Display) and all actions on the water like boating, houseboat, swimming etc., this bug has remained, unfortunately.

Anches100 you don’t need Rosetta to run TS4, EA released a native version for silicon Macs which EA App will automatically download for you, I think it was a couple of years ago now. Maybe that was part of the issue?

I also have a Mac equipped with the M1 chip and didn’t experience the issues you have. Updating or reinstalling the OS can often iron out any corrupted or missing files causing issues 🙂

Bluebellflora Yes, I believe that about Rosetta too. I didn't have any problems with it for a long time either.

I also think that upgrading the operating system has solved the problems. Do you have a newer operating system on your Mac too? I am really glad that The Sims 4 runs so well on OS Ventura.🙂
