I am having the same issue!
I don't have any mods or anything, using a 2017 Mac 17inch, fully up to date.
When I start the Sims 4 it takes over half of my screen with the black loading screen and leaves half of my desktop screen up. It completely freezes my Mac and I get the spinning wheel. I have to force restart my computer.
So far I have deleted and reinstalled Origin and all my sims games. Updated the game. Repaired the game. Factory reset my MacBook. Turned off automatic updates. I don't know what else to do at this point.
I did launch origin on a PC and I had no problem playing on there...please help!
