sims 4 game data missing or damaged MAC

Hey Big problem over here

I have this message coming up on my game. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, repaired, refreshed my folders. also made a new user on my computer and re downloaded origin on it and that didnt work either. I updated my computer yesterday and everything was working fine prior so i assume it has something to do with that. Message: Cannot start because required game data is missing or damaged. Please repair or reinstall the game via Origin.

I have been trying to get help in the discord servers but so far no luck.

PLEASE SOMEONE HELP

You updated your OS to Catalina? Or was it some kind of other update?

Is it the same error message or is it different after trying different things? Could you please post a screenshot of it?

Does Origin have Full Disk Access in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Full Disk Access?

Give this a try (please make sure there is no Sims 4 folder in your Documents > Electronic Arts folder):

    1. In your Applications folder right click on the Sims 4 app and select Show Package Contents.
    2. Navigate to Contents > Mac OS.
    3. Right click on The Sims 4 and select Move to Trash. Don't drag the file as it will only move an alias and leave the original in place.
    4. Now open Origin, right click on The Sims 4 in your Games Library and click Repair Game.

@jeanneley54  Thanks for the info.  I think you have the most recent version of the Nvidia driver that Apple offers.  Nvidia has a newer driver for your model Mac which might theoretically be compatible.  The problem is, it's indicated for High Sierra, not Catalina, so I'm not sure it would work.  I'd at least wait to install it until getting a second opinion.

What you could do, for now, is install the new version of Catalina that came out a couple days ago.  It doesn't have a newer driver, but if the problem preventing you from playing is something else about the OS, installing the newest version may repair the error.  You can update Catalina from the App Store, among other places.

Sorry about the delay in responding. I was in the hospital. Catalina is version 10.56 and my graphics driver is the one that came with my 2003 iMac. I was able  to play sub successfully once. but couldn't connect to and getting a white screen on Origin, After a month of getting advice from Origin without success. I deleted The Sims 4 and Origin to start over, and I finally got the advice to start in safe mode. Now I was able to connect to Origin but could not verify The Sims 4 more than halfway each time, which has nothing to do with the graphics driver, only the download process. Can you help- me please.

@jeanneley54  I'm sorry to hear you were in the hospital.  When you say Origin can't verify Sims 4, do you mean that it's now installed?  Do you get an error when it stops?  If so, please post a screenshot.

  • Origin updated yesterday now I am getting that same message.   Did anyone figure out how to fix this issue?
