Sims 4 game freezing

I have recently downloaded the cats and dogs expansion pack and everytime I use the features of the pack it causes my game to freeze. I can still click things but the screen is frozen. When i dont play in the world or have any pets the game play is fine but as soon as I go to play it eg: adopt a pet... the game will freeze soon after. 

I have tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling it as well as repairing the game but the issue still occurs. Just wondering if someone could help me as I would love to incorporate this pack into my sims game play.
