The Sims 4 is accessing files that I can't find. (Mac)

So... I recently backed up and reset my game after downloading lots of cc (so I could easily troubleshoot for bad cc and take it out) and after putting that back up into my EA folder, where the original file always was, the game started up without saves. Okay, so one of the files is bad and is messing up my game! So I start going through, starting and restarting the game, taking cc in and out, and.. nothing. I check to see what files the game is pulling from via the options menu and... it's pulling from a file called "The Sims 4", located in the EA folder, but, that's not what my backup I put in is called. and, no such file exists on my computer. I've even tried reinstalling the game, and nothing works. I'd greatly appreciate any help with this issue! I'm this close to just backing everything up, and getting rid of origin as a whole, to see if that fixes things...

The game will only load from the Sims 4 folder located in Documents > Electronic Arts. If there is no folder there, the game will recreate one. It is in the saves folder and Mods folder within that Sims 4 folder that you need to put your saves and CC.

The Sims 4 requires Origin to run, you will not be able to run it without Origin.

I'm aware of this, and it seems to have created a new folder, however, It's not in the electronic arts folder that I can see, which is what's confusing me. In addition to this, I am launching the Sims 4 through origin every time.
