the sims4 update problem

i was updating the sims4 when it just stopped at "preparing..12.90/12.90 GB," so i contacted ea support and they told me to clear my cache, which i did, but nothing happened. i canceled the update and played offline and the game was so glitchy—like unplayable glitchy. Please help!
