Okay, so it's been almost 6 years since I played Sims (Sims 3). My Mac desktop burned in a massive fire, along with my whole cabin in 2016. I have been saving for a new computer which was not an easy task and I never succeeded, but finally was gifted a new Mac literally a couple days ago, and the first thing I did was install Sims 4 which was also gifted to me. I cried tears of joy and was so excited to have a part of my life back.
Well...first - it took me two days to figure out the Origin thing because it offers very little detail and instruction - I finally found one helpful thing someone said somewhere and was able to successfully begin installing the game. This I guess was normal for almost everyone. That's a red flag and I knew that this was not going to be as easy as it always was in the past.
It took almost 11 hours to download, and I woke up all night seeing where the percentage was. Mind you, like others in my age group, I have been using computers since I was 4. I remember typing in a codes to use the computer back then. I remember floppy discs - and my old video games. Now, 30 years go by and I am extremely computer literate (not like typing computer language, but extremely fast on computers and can usually solve all of my issues, whether on PC and MAC, and are proficient with all sorts of major programs, etc.
SIMS was one of those games that has always been in my life. I started playing the original Sims when I was 11. Sims 2 was a joke, but I guess it was a test run from Sims 3 which ended up being one of my favorite games. As an architect and designer, AND a heavy gamer, this game was perfect for me to and I spent 1000's of hours playing it for almost two decades designing, creating, and building with a serious passion. I never experienced issues, it was always smooth sailing. It crashed once right before my computer burned in the wildfire, but it had saved everything and nothing was lost.
But TODAY, I am extremely annoyed to find that in the age of 2022...I can't just put a cd into the computer, have it download, install, and then play the game...it usually took maybe an hour tops to run the download. It is ASTOUNDING to have to jump through all these damn hoops, hopping around the internet trying to understand why something SO SIMPLE has become SOOOOOOO COMPLICATED. I don't even know what you are all talking about - it's as though you're all used to having to deal with all these ridiculous problems, so no one is complaining that this is overly complicated to get a game started. It should NOT BE THIS HARD. It should NOT REQUIRE ALL OF MY TIME AND ENERGY TO DOWNLOAD A GAME, having to download Origin, uninstall, reinstall, deleting 'mods' or whatever the hell, and all these extra things. I am so disappointed and amazed to find that these problems are NORMAL.
Is there a number I can call or a real human who can walk me through what I need to do? Why do I have to download more crap when it's already taken half a day to upload the game? After being off the computer for 6 years due to to a traumatizing and life changing event, I wanted to be able to finally jump back on a computer again and play a game - I am extremely saddened to see this is our computer world now. Pathetic, complicated, too much data, too much time...who knows what the hell is encrypted into these games now.
So I either want this to be an easy fix...or I am realizing Sims 4 is just like Sims 2. Sims 4 may not be worth my time and it sounds like people play it and lose all their data after a few days. Why would I even bother with that? I have lost enough work and crap of 30 years of my life. This must be a bogus product and I would be more than happy going back to Sims 3 for life, rather than deal with all these new complications everyone else must have the time and energy to voluntarily deal with. Who creates this stuff? Other mid 30 year olds who grew up in the same age as me? Why has this become so intricate and extreme to download a game?
It IS 2022, right? What a complicated age the human race has created...but I just desperately want to play SIMS!!!!!!!!!
Does anyone feel the same? Please help me!!!
