Black screen or gpu crash after launch

Every time I try to load into the sims 4 I either get a black screen or my gpu crashes. Here's what I've tried:

  • Reinstalling the game and the EA app
  • Running the game as administrator
  • Reinstalling graphics drivers and hotfix

I have no CC installed and this is the only game I have that won't run. Every time I try to launch the game I have to restart my computer using the power button to be able to use it again. I should note I got it working one time but I decided to buy some packs since they were on sale and once they installed I couldn't load the game up again. Same issue before and after I installed the packs, and what fixed the game the first time was installing the hotfix from Nvidia's website. Didn't work the second time, even after a clean install of the current drivers then installing the hotfix.

    bsandwich05  If you'd still like help with this issue, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

    Please also let me know what "hotfix" you installed, with a link or description.
