Build mode, can't place furniture glitch, proposed solution.

So i saw another player complaining about this, not being able to place furniture. for me in particular the problem was that id click on a piece of furniture to place it, (I've tried ovens fridge and trash cans) and it would deselect, id click on it again same thing, (I've attempted two bug fixes, no avail). 

I've done several things to try and fix it, you might have to try these individually because i don't honestly know which one fixed it. first i went to my other games and deleted a bunch of extra saves, (my logic here being that the game didn't have room to update my  world) the second thing i did was, i loaded the play i was having trouble with back a few saves (yes it was annoying to lose progress, beater then having to start all over again, hopefully wasn't for nothing). also if you have the discover university dlc, it might be worth turning of any of your robots, i don't know if it actually did any good, just what i tried, might also be a problem with pets, but there were none on my lot at time of glitch, i also cleaned up all my dirty dishes that seemed to amass in my storage for some reason, i feel like sometimes even though an item says its in storage it still sometimes takes up space in the world, just a hunch.

i will ad I've had a few problems like this in the past,  i haven't tried since a couple of updates ago but i used to have this thing where if i tried to place cabinets or certain bookshelves (from the book nook kit or whatever its called) my game would just shut down, i don't love not being able to use the content I've paid for, personally i would be happy if EA spent more time making sure the sims works and less time cranking out new dlc, but programmers need to eat.
