Disappearing UI after entering BB mode

Hi, I'm not sure what information is relevant to my issue so I'll just include everything I can think of.

I have The Sims 4 installed on both EA app and Steam, I have purchased most of my EPs through EA but a couple through Steam and it is accessed through Steam.

I have a couple of issues - one is that despite updating the game every time there has been an update, it says my menu is out of date. This may or may not be related to the main issue so thought I'd mention. My main issue however is that if I go into Build/Buy and then into live mode, it shows me this image (I will attach), my UI disappears and I am unable to do anything at all.  

I have: deleted all mods I used to have, turned off mods altogether, uninstalled and re-installed, verified game files, done the clean folder method, deleted localthumbcache, turned off OneDrive, and probably a million other things I could think of or found online that could potentially help but the problem persists.

I'm hoping it's a very simple thing I'm just overlooking that someone may be able to answer, I have no idea what the pop-up I'm getting with the llama means. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I miss my game! Thank you
