BajanK Thanks for the dxdiag. Please update the driver for your graphics chip, as it's from 2021 and may not work well with the game anymore. You can get the newest driver from Intel here:

Run the installer as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator." Restart afterwards and before trying to play.

Additionally, when I select new game, the screen flashes twice and does not proceed. After selecting new game again, I'm able to proceed in creating a new household. This is where the game begins to lag again to the point I have to exit the app from the task manager.
Update: After uninstalling and re-installing the app, I'm able to select new game but the screen flashing issue remains. After selecting new game again, I'm finally able to create a household with no lag. An issue that has popped up is I'm unable to select their traits.
After being able to create a new household and select a house, the game crashes.
