Hey!
That error usually shows up when the game tries to use the wrong graphics card or if something's off with the driver. Since you said it worked just fine a couple days ago, I’m guessing something change, maybe a Windows or driver update in the background.
Sometimes it defaults to the integrated graphics.
- Open NVIDIA Control Panel
- Go to Manage 3D settings > Program Settings
- Add The Sims 4 (TS4_x64.exe) if it’s not there
- Set it to use the High-performance NVIDIA processor
- Apply changes
Even if it’s recent, updating or doing a clean reinstall can help.
- Go to NVIDIA's official site
- Find your GPU manually and download the latest driver
- Or use GeForce Experience if you prefer that
- Right-click TS4_x64.exe (in the game’s install folder)
- Properties > Compatibility tab
- Check "Run as administrator"
- Also try setting it to run in Windows 8 compatibility mode
This has fixed similar issues for others.
- Open the EA App
- Go to Settings > Application
- Turn off "Enable in-game overlay"
- In the EA App, right-click The Sims 4 > Manage > Repair
If none of that works, let me know your GPU model, if you're on a laptop or desktop, and your Windows version. That’ll help narrow it down.
