I'm having the exact same issue, just updated it and it doesn't start but I'm getting an EA popup saying something about Display Name that I don't really understand

Edit: Feel like I should mention I'm on a clean install, no mods, no dlc just the base game

Edit 2: Just opened the EA app and the game launched itself... not really sure what happened `\_'-'_/`

Same issue and also did what everyone  in the forums did mine still wont work. I hope we get a resolve soon. 

I am also having the same issue. Every time I open the game it starts to load up and crashes, then it just leads back to the EA home page. I do have mods installed, but I've been using the same ones for a while now and have had no issue until after I updated the game. Really hoping it gets fixed soon; especially since I just got a new pack.  : (

brookybear15​  If you have Steam's family sharing or similar enabled, please disable it.

Otherwise, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  If it copies instead of moving, or you get an error when trying to move it, stop here and let me know.

Otherwise, when you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs, that is if you can get that far.

If you still can't play, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Little_Duck0​  Please try removing your saves folder, as a test.  If that doesn't help, see the above.

Removing the save file seems to be working for me. Thank you : ) puzzlezaddict

Little_Duck0​  That's great to hear.  If you want to try to recover your saves, some players report that simply starting a new save and saving their progress allows them to add back the old saves and load them.  Others say they also have to add back the mods and custom content they were using, updated versions where necessary of course.
