Moving sims mods back onto C from D

I’ve had such a nightmare with trying to transfer my mods and cc over to my external hard drive. I feel like I need to start again and move my files back onto my laptop to do this and to have a through clear out of cc I don’t use or like anymore. Does anyone know how to move these files back onto your computer from the hard drive? Is it the same way as putting the files on the external hard drive? I just want to play again!

  • chloemariexoxo  Did you create a symbolic link or anything else like that to try to get the game to use your external drive?  If so, please let me know exactly what you did.

Please also right-click one of the files you're trying to transfer back to your internal, select Properties > General, and list the Location.  Then search in Windows for Command Prompt, open it, copy and paste this command, and enter:

reg query "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders" /v "Personal"

Then list the result here.  The idea is, I'd like to know where the files are AND where the game would expect them to be, in case these are two different locations.

I’ve done this and nothing! Now I’m trying to open the game and it’s coming up with error already running. I want to cry 😂

chloemariexoxo just right click the folder choose copy then go to the user/yourname/documents/electronic arts/the sims 4/ folder and right click in there and choose paste.
