Solved

my game isn't working... but is it really the game?

Hey! Every time I open sims, my mouse and screen freezes. I have this laptop for the purpose of sims 4 so it was definitely a bit upsetting. I've tried everything i can think of and even searching online doesn't help. I've deleted the EA app, repaired Sims over and over, deleted all my mods, made sure to end the task of sims in the sims folder, NOTHING is working at all. Could someone help me out? Also, it doesn't look like the screens freezing for other players that I've seen online with a tint or an icon popping up. Help!!!

By the way, I have touch screen, and I can click things with it, I just need to close and re-open the app to see what I clicked did. I had played the Sims for about 36 hours (on and off, not straight)  before I began having this problem.

  • I am having this exact issue, I had it happen maybe a year ago, and I navigated via tabbing in and out of the game to change it to Windowed Fullscreen mode, I have a touch screen also. That worked until the August update, where the issue is back, the tabbing doesn't really work this time, and neither does the windowed mode solution. I hope we can get a solution as I have also tried all the fixes you've mentioned above, no mods, cleared caches, repaired game etc. 😥

it won't let me, could you tell me what to look for or fix? Also, I'm fairly new to computers at all so I'm relying on tutorials for everything, so thank you for your patience.

  • y15efguyhsn8  No, I really can't tell you what to look for because there's too much to cover.  It would require basically teaching you how to read a dxdiag, to the extent of my knowledge, and assuming that I could communicate everything effectively.

There's no reason you shouldn't be able to attach a text file to a reply here.  But if you can't make it work, upload the file to a third-party filehosting site and link it here.

You are a lifesaver, thank you, I can even play it in full-screen mode again!!

As for storage, I actually have an SD card with 66GB of space left on it, where my Sims 4 files are stored, so all is good there.

    Have a wonderful weekend!!!
