From what I understand, the crashes or failure to launch may be caused by hardware limitations, outdated drivers, or operating system conflicts. Since each DLC may require higher system resources (at least that's my assumption), multiple factors could contribute to these issues. I could be wrong, especially since you were previously able to play the game without problems, whether modded or not. Below are several troubleshooting steps that may help resolve the issue:
Basic fixed (already mentioned in my previous posts):
- Repair the Game (EA App)
- Open the EA App.
- Locate The Sims 4 in your game library.
- Click on the three dots (…) and select Repair.
- Wait for the repair process to finish, then restart your PC.
- Clear the Game Cache
- Navigate to: Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4
- Delete the file localthumbscache.package.
- If you use mods, remove them temporarily and try launching the game without them.
- Updating Windows 10/11 and macOS, and Updating AMD/NVIDIA Graphics Drivers
- Updating Windows 10/11
- Open Windows Update:
- Press Win + I to open Settings.
- Go to Update & Security (Windows 10) or Windows Update (Windows 11).
- Click Check for updates.
- Install Updates:
- If updates are available, Windows will download and install them.
- Restart your PC if prompted.
- Optional Driver Updates (if available):
- In Windows Update, click Advanced options > Optional updates.
- Check for available driver updates and install them.
- Updating macOS
- Open System Settings (macOS Ventura and later) or System Preferences (older versions):
- Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner.
- Select System Settings (Ventura and later) or System Preferences (older versions).
- Check for Updates:
- Go to General > Software Update (Ventura and later) or Software Update (older versions).
- Click Check for updates.
- Install Available Updates:
- If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to install it.
- Restart your Mac if required.
- Updating AMD Graphics Drivers (Windows & macOS)
- Identify Your GPU:
- Press Win + R, type dxdiag, and press Enter.
- Under Display, note your GPU model.
- Download the Latest Drivers:
- Visit AMD’s official website.
- Select your GPU model and download the latest driver for Windows or macOS.
- Install the Driver (Windows):
- Run the downloaded installer and follow the instructions.
- Restart your PC if prompted.
- Install the Driver (macOS - If applicable):
- On macOS, AMD drivers are typically included with macOS updates.
- Ensure you are running the latest macOS version.
- Updating NVIDIA Graphics Drivers (Windows & macOS)
- Identify Your GPU:
- Press Win + R, type dxdiag, and press Enter.
- Under Display, note your GPU model.

Advanced fixes:
- Uninstall and Perform a Clean Reinstall (Using Bulk Crap Uninstaller)
- Download Bulk Crap Uninstaller. Unfortunately, I am unable to provide the link, so it is recommended to search it via a search engine.
- Open the program and find The Sims 4 in the installed software list.
- Select it and click Uninstall.
- Follow the uninstallation prompts in EA App.
- When asked to scan for leftover files, select Yes.
- Ensure all remaining files (Documents, core game files, and registry entries) are checked, then click Delete selected.
- Restart your PC and reinstall the game.
- Warning: Look on the list to make sure that it highlights everything related to the Sims 4, including the remaining files from Documents, the remaining files from the game's core, as the software, rarely, can mark the file as "false positive".
- Factory Reset (Last Resort Option)
- If nothing else works, a factory reset might resolve deeper system issues.
- Warning: This will erase all data, so make sure to back up important files first
Final tips:
- Ensure your drivers and operating system are up to date.
- Check if your PC meets the system requirements for the latest DLC.
- If needed, ask for assistance when performing advanced troubleshooting steps.
I hope one of these solutions works for you! Let me know if you need further assistance.
