newest update 'license invalid' WTF

since the latest update unable to play sims 4,because apparantly EA is dumb. I tried all their fixes even some from reddit NOTHING unable to start the GAME at all. how does a license be INVALID? Having the original CD ROM does jack, because origin needs to connect to internet WOW EA...at least keep ORIGIN open for such things. So i UNINSTALLED EVERYTHING and re instlled NOTHING.

SO annoying that i have to search myself cos EA aint doing NOTHING

  • Jeminemz mudita08sri  I asked someone else for a second opinion, and he had another suggestion.  Make sure the EA App is closed and it and the EABackgroundService are NOT running in the Task Manager.  Click Windows key-R and enter %programdata% in the run box, then open Electronic Arts > EA Services and move the License folder to the desktop.  Then try again to play.

If this helps but breaks a different game (it shouldn't, but just in case), you can move the files in the old License folder to the new folder, except for the one related to Sims 4.  Opening the game should create a new copy of the relevant file, so just skip whatever old file has the same name as the new one and restore the others.

Ive tried this. When i remove license it disrupts launching simcity... But also doesnt install any new folder. So i put it back.

Ive read people have success with new user accounts.. Ive tried this also with no luck.

Now im trying a fresh pc downloading sims 4 as we speak. Now if its still the same.. Then what.. What will ea do for me then.

Maybe if someone can just remotely takeover.. Would be ideal

  • Jeminemz  Try removing only the files inside License.  Then launch Sims 4, if you can, and if there's a new file in License, leave that in place and note its name.  Copy back all the other files that were in License except for the one that has the same name as the new one.

Hey I tried this but there is no file named license. So I don't know what to do. Will wait to try on any other pc in future and let you know

  • mudita08sri  License is a folder, not a file; here's how to find it:

Click Windows key-R and enter %programdata% in the run box, then open Electronic Arts > EA Services and move the License folder to the desktop.

Sorry I didn't use the right term but I did try that [ one ea advisors told me to] but there was nothing in the name of license. Nothing in the ea service folder. I did choose tk show hidden folders but still nothing . I will wait for the next update maybe then it might launch.

Hello, I'm having the same problem. Were you able to fix it?

Yes.. Only by upgrading laptop from win 7 to win 10 and my pc from win 8 to win 10. Otherwise nothing else worked.

I did all the steps giving to me. In the end i decided to upgrade my windows and now i can play.
