When I start a new save the game runs fine and I can play it but with my save I am trying to load it lets me load the world maps and edit sims in create a sim but when I try to enter a household/lot it boots me out sometimes with a break error sometimes not.
@Pucaroo16 Try installing a new graphics driver. Download it from here:
https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/180557/en-us
Choose the custom route and check the box to perform a clean install. Restart afterwards and before trying to play.
If you get another error, please take a screenshot and attach it to a post.
Sadly it still crashes when trying to load into a household on this save file.
@Pucaroo16 A breakpoint error is a system error, so it's unusual that you'd get one while playing one save but not another. Try loading the affected save in a clean user folder. Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a new folder will spawn with no content. First, start a new save just to make sure everything still works; no need to spend much time on it, since this is just for testing. In particular, please travel to the world and lot where your affected save takes place.
If the new save runs fine, go into saves inside the old Sims 4 folder, copy the affected save, and paste it inside saves in the new Sims 4 folder. If you're not sure which save to copy, you can grab a few of them, but only copy files that end in .save, nothing else.
Sadly this did not work either. I can make sims and edit them in cas but when trying to load a lot/household it still crashes unfortunately 🙂
@Pucaroo16 Try playing in a clean user folder. Move your entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content. Don't add anything to it yet; just start a new save and see whether live mode works.
If you still can't play, try doing a clean uninstall and reinstall of the graphics driver, as described in this article:
You can use the same Nvidia driver as before, but please download a fresh copy. When installing the driver, choose the custom route and install only the driver and the PhysX software; if you want other features, you can worry about those later. (If you can't deselect some options, don't worry about it.) Restart when you're done.
If you can't play after that either, please run a new dxdiag and attach it to a post.
I did as suggested but it still crashes trying to load in the household on the save file.
The game works fine in a new save I can load in households and play them fine but it just seems to be this certain save file that has a glitch. I beginning to think it has become corrupted.
@Pucaroo16 Can you load a different household within this save? If not, please go to Manage Worlds > Manage Households > Other Households and let me know whether you see a number of blank households in the list.
Unfortunately not but all households appear in other households
@Pucaroo16 Try recovering a backup version of the save, as described here, and loading that.
https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2014/09/recover-backup-save-game/
I've done that and it still doesn't work. I think it's either my PC or the save file itself as it the save file works on my sisters PC just not on mine 🙂
@Pucaroo16 It would be strange for a system issue to affect only this one save and not new saves as well. But on the other hand it would be strange for a save issue to show up on only one computer. If you play your save on your sister's computer and save your progress, then transfer that save back to your computer, does it work? Please try loading it in another clean user folder, no added content at all, just to be thorough.
