Sims 4 - Crash on Start Up

My game has been crashing up start up since the new update. I have tried everything from these forums so far and I'm at my wits end. It happens the moment I launch the game and get to the menu screen. Things I have tried:

  • Repairing
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling
  • Clearing Cache
  • Moving files from document for a clean start up
  • No mods
  • No apps running in background when booting up the game
  • Updating drivers
  • Restarting PC

Someone please help, this has never been an issue until last night. I have attached my Dxdiag file.

    Hi,

I am experiencing the same thing too...

I've tried removing my antivirus software incase it was blocking it and it still doesn't work..

I would like to now add I have also done a clean uninstall and reinstall of the Nvidia graphics driver. And another repair with no luck. As well as numerous videos online with forums and no solution that's worked yet. This is incredibly annoying.

I have also followed this from another forum, still no results. Will continue to update this as it may help others.

But still no results. Crashing continues

  • Zarelienis101  Does the game actually freeze at the Main Menu, like this?

If so, please use that bug report.

Otherwise, your dxdiag doesn't list any Windows errors at all, which is odd.  (Any system will have at least a few.)  Are you using some kind of cleaner app that removes temp files?  If so, please disable or uninstall it while we're troubleshooting here.

Please also look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent Sims 4 crash.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

It's not necessary to get your GPU recognized, but I can help with that once the game is working again.

Tashhasniceeyes MkMissGiuly  Please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

If you get another crash, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
