sims packs unavailable

I recently re-downloaded the sims - previously I had bought 2 packs through steam and 1 pack through EA. At the time I never had any problems but I re-downloading the game (through EA) and found that only one of my packs is available. I tried to download the game through steam instead but then it only lets me play with the two packs I bought through steam and not through ea. How do I play with all 3 packs? I've deleted and reinstalled both steam and EA but keep having the same problem. My EA account does say that it's linked to my steam account.

You can use the same search function to see whether you have multiple copies of the game installed.  Each copy will have a folder inside Delta for each pack that exists, other than those so new they haven't been patched again.  This is true even if you don't own the pack in question.  So, for example, if you have two copies of an EP19 folder inside two Delta folders inside two different Sims 4 folders, that means you have two copies of the game installed.

If uninstalling the game the normal way (i.e. through the EA App) doesn't help, you can do a clean uninstall instead, which should find everything.

  • Hi,

I think the issue is that even though your accounts are linked, the packs don’t actually combine. The ones you bought on Steam should only work when you play through Steam, and the one you bought on EA only works through EA. From what I understand, the only way to have them all together is to rebuy the missing packs on the same platform. I’m not 100% sure though, but did you ever play them all together before, or is this the first time you’ve tried?

That makes sense but yes, I have played with them all together before, then I deleted the game and redownloaded it and now it's not working any more

  • anoldcardigan13  You'll need to uninstall the EA App version of Sims 4 and play only through Steam.  You should be able to download only the pack(s) you own in the EA App, but not a separate copy of the base game, and that content should install into the folder for the Steam version as if you'd bought it from Steam.  It doesn't work the other way around though: you can't use your Steam-owned content in an EA App install.  If you could previously, that was a glitch, not the way things are supposed to work.

  • puzzlezaddict Every time I try to play only through steam it automatically installs the EA app after I've deleted it - how do I separate them/delete the base game copy? It says on the EA app that my game is accessed through steam.

  • anoldcardigan13  You need to have the EA App itself installed.  I meant that you cannot have the EA App version of Sims 4 installed, as in, you can only have one copy of Sims 4 on your computer, and that copy has to be the one you install through Steam.

  • anoldcardigan13  I understand that, but what I'm saying is, you can install your packs that you own in the EA App without installing a copy of the base game, and you need to NOT install a copy of the base game through the EA App, and not already have one installed.  If you only have the Steam install of Sims 4, any packs you own through the EA App should go into the Steam copy of Sims 4 and work.

If you're still not understanding, please see the first post and accepted solution of this thread:

A lot of it wouldn't apply to you, but it does explain why your packs might not load in general and what you'd need to do about it, and there's a Steam section as well.

puzzlezaddict This makes sense now, thank you! I've deleted the versions of the pack that were downloaded in the EA folder and followed all the other instructions but it still isn't working - what are the steps I actually need to take to make sure I don't have the base game downloaded through the EA app, and how do I download the pack from it on its own? I saw somewhere that I need to delete the game on the EA app but I can't find the option to do this anywhere.
