Switching to external hard drive

GothBae​  So among other things, you've moved or renamed the Sims 4 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts?  If not, please do so now.

If that doesn't or didn't help, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling, restarting my pc, forcing the app to update, clearing the cache, removing all mods, starting the game as is with no saves no nothing and none of that has worked

So here's what I did step by step. Initially, the EA app installed the game on my c drive. I was told to uninstall it, and change the app to directly download the game into my D:\programfiles  which is why I created a new folder there, making it D:\programfiles\newfolder and inside new folder is where it would install sims4. That was fine but upon launch is where it said "error on our end"

GothBae​  In case it's not clear, there are always two Sims 4 folders, one with the game's program files (what the EA App installs) and one with the user data (saves, mods, etc.).  And these two folders should never be combined.

Please post a screenshot of the error you're getting when trying to move the Sims 4 folder, and let me know where it's currently located and where you want it to be.

Please also keep in mind that you'll need to create a symbolic link after moving the folder so the game knows where to look for your data.  Here's how:

But that's a moot point until you can actually move the folder.
