The game is unplayable

I'm really fed up with the bugs in this game. I cannot play with any of my families. The game allows me to go to world selection, but then keeps sending me back to world selection after selecting my sim family. Even when having created a new sim and going from there I have the same issue after I go out of CAS. 

Does someone have a solution for this? I have checked my mods and none of them are causing issues. I have not installed new content or mods since the last time I played which was a few months ago when the game was still playable.
