two sims file

So i bought an external hard drive because my mods were slowing my laptop down, and everytime i redownloaded sims 4 it always shows up in documents and i have a file in the external hard drive ive tried to move the documents folder to the hard drive but it doesnt work. so when i place my mods in the file thats located in the hard drive it doesnt pop up.
