Unable to return to live mode from build/buy mode

Sul sul everyone! I have recently purchased the Royalty pack and ever since the Feb update, if I go into build/buy and try to return to live, my UI disappears and I cannot save my game (the options menu doesn't show up!)! I'm forced to force quit every time! I can't use build/buy anymore! I tried removing mods and everything! HELP 😭

  • Kevalis222  That means there was (probably) something in the old folder interfering.  Try copying over an old save to see whether it works in the new folder.  Don't add anything else yet; you don't need to save your progress without the mods present.

If the save is fine, you can start testing your mods in the new folder, and then your custom content.  Once you've sorted through all that, add back your other saves, your Tray files, and Screenshots and Recorded Videos if you care about those.  The rest can be discarded.

  • Kevalis222  Did you remove your entire Mods folder?  If not, please try that now.

If that doesn't or didn't help, please test a new save, for comparison's sake.

removed all mods and that issue seemed to resolve, but the UI keeps breaking. UI will confuse who's action bar is who's, and my sim preview, moodlets, whims, etc is gone. Will try a new save and report back.

New save, no mods - I tried repairing the game a few times as well, but it didn't change anything.

  • Kevalis222  Please try a completely clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start another new save and have a look.

If this doesn't help, I'd like to see a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Update - that seemed to do the trick, but now the question is why? and how do I get it to stop? I attached my dxdiag anyway in case that might help.

Figured it out! There was some mod data in my save folder - moved it out and it corrected the issue. Gonna assume I'll have to wait for the modders to update them! Thanks for helping me out! I'm not very tech savvy, so I appreciate the step by step!
