Unable to start

Good morning, today when I tried to launch the game I got this error. It's never happened to me before (I've been playing often for many years, I have all the packs).

I've seen that there are other errors with the same name but not the same number. Things I've tried:

- I removed the mods folder

- I restored the game

- I restarted my PC

- I cleared the EA app cache

- I uninstalled the game (it won't let me from the EA app, I click it and nothing happens, I forced it from my PC)

- I uninstalled the EA app

- I unlinked my Steam account from the EA app

- I forced my antivirus to stop (Windows Defender)

I don't know what else to do. What I can say is that it created a new folder (and if I delete it, it recreates it) in "Documents/Electronic Arts" called "The Sims 4" when mine was called "Los Sims 4" (I have the EA app and the game set to Spanish). But even if I move the save files or all the folders from the old one to the new one it created today, I still get the same error message (it doesn't matter if I delete the new one, the old one, or both... same error).

PLEASE, I need help. This game is very important to me.

_____________________________________________________________________

-He quitado carpeta de mods

-He restaurado el juego

-He reiniciado el pc

-He borrado caché de ea app

-He desintalado el juego (desde la ea app no me deja, le doy y no hace nada, lo he forzado desde el pc)

-He desintalado la ea app

-He forzado a mi antivivirus a que pare (windows defender)

  • I've finally found the solution. The problem needs to be solved using the Registry Editor, as explained in this link:

Initilization error at start up [135dec40:90f690cf:00000075:495f32a0] | EA Forums - 11847307

    error 135dec40:90f690cf:00000075:495f32a0 | EA Forums - 8908729

But BE VERY CAREFUL because it's in German (If you want to change the game to a different language, the commands change). Before you begin, please read the warnings about the risks, as doing this incorrectly could damage your PC.

Ve al nodo [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Maxis\The Sims 4]

REPETIR LO MISMO EN [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Maxis\The Sims 4]

If I change the game language in the EA App, but when I open it, it recreates the English "The Sims 4" folder, I've tried several languages and the same thing happens. The game opens, but in English, even if I check later and the EA App has a different language selected.

I tried completely disabling my antivirus, and now I've excluded the EA App and game files to prevent interference.

It seems the problem is that when the game starts, something inside is telling it to use English, which is why it creates that folder.

  • BorealVidaCozy  The language of the Sims 4 folder will follow the language the game is using, so that's not a surprise.  The only way to change the language, other than uninstalling and reinstalling, is to choose a different one in the EA App, under Sims 4 > Manage > View properties.  If you choose Spanish there and repair the game (yet again), are you still seeing English, or does the game not open at all?

Please also check your antivirus for recent actions related to Sims 4.  Some AV programs, Windows Defender included, can block programs' access to the Documents folder, and that could prevent Sims 4 from working in Spanish, but not in English, if the block targeted "Los Sims 4" in particular.

Thank you so much for your reply. I still can't play in my language.

I've never changed the game's language before (I always play in Spanish), and I solved the error that was preventing me from entering the game by changing the language to English. But now I'm unable to play in Spanish. I've tried changing the game to other languages, and it always appears in English.

It keeps creating the "The Sims 4" folder even after I delete it and clear the cache. I even tried creating a new Windows account before, and the same problem persists: it keeps generating an English game folder, making it impossible to play in another language. Even if I manually create my own "Los Sims 4" folder, it still generates and uses "The Sims 4."

  • BorealVidaCozy  Do you still need help?  I read through your post on the Spanish forum, and it sounds like the game is running but is somehow in English now.  In case you're not aware, it's normal for the Spanish version to name the user folder "Los Sims 4" rather than "The Sims 4," and sometimes switching languages fixes this kind of error for exactly that reason—the problem is in the old user folder, and the new language uses a different folder and therefore sidesteps the issue.

Having said that, a new Windows account should also get around the issue, unless you imported your data to the new account, or you tied it to your Microsoft account and allowed OneDrive to sync your files.

For the current language issue, the next step (if you haven't done so already) would be to clear the EA App's cache, again, and repair, again, in order to try to force the game to download the correct language strings.

At any rate, let me know if you'd like help at the moment.
