- I believe they eventually get to $17,500 with a 3 1/2 day build time before you're done with them. I don't see what is wrong with them costing fake money, since literally every item you build or buy in the game costs either cash or donuts.

This is what I'm still paying for the tiles. I didn't take advantage of an earlier glitch so I'm just grinding away.
That being said, I'm fine with this. My SP is still a work in progress.teo47 wrote:
Whats wrong is it's an absurd amount that could go towards buildings, decor or land. Not a little square of boardwalk.

I mean really you don't think $17,000 for a little square is ridiculous when you're just starting out? And even so it just makes no sense. Plus 2-3 day build when most building are only 24 hours? Come on.
It's not that I want everything handed to me. I have patience. I've gone weeks and months without buying buildings and such to accumulate money. This is just a matter of purposely being annoying.wildcat2k wrote:

Players who are at the point in the game where it's $17,000/square are not "just starting out". They've been playing a long time and likely have loads of money. Are you going to complain about a tiny building that cost over $1 million and doesn't really do much? Because you'll encounter that eventually.
You've gone months without buying buildings? Just to accumulate money? But yet you seem focused on Squidport a lot. How many tiles have you bought? How many building have you put there? I mostly ignored building out Squidport besides the very bare minimum until I was forced to add to it later in the game. I'm kinda paying for it now as I have to wait a while between tiles. I have all the needed buildings there, but if I want to design more there then I'll need more tiles. I wish I had bought like a tile a week in my early days just to stock up (while still ignoring building out Squidport).
Have you actually USED all the tiles you bought? How much did you have to spend in water squares to get enough space for them? I'm just curious why you're focusing on Squidport instead of enjoying the regular quest lines.- Well it's a game isn't it?
In any game the difficulty level should increase incrementally as you level up. And actually, for me the hardest point in this game was right around the middle. I'm at L49 now and although I'm still grinding away it's not nearly as hard to get money for things as it was about 20-25 levels ago.
If everything still cost $250 in game cash can you imagine how much more boring it would be? Not to mention the clamoring for more land  stinkbugger wrote:

I have like 18 unused boardwalk pieces. I only have enough water land to fit the initial squidport entrance and to build a few buildings. I guess maybe 2 land squares worth of boardwalk pieces are currently out.
I went through long stretches of not building anything to accumulate money because every time I'd advance the storyline and build something I'd be almost broke again so I wanted to have enough to keep going smoothly and have some extra for decor and such.wildcat2k wrote:

That's cool. I'm still working through the levels myself. I'm at Level 48 although I still haven't bought the Quimby Compound (which starts the level 47 quest line; I'm waiting for level 50 to be released so it drops like $250,000 in price).
A lot of it just comes down to how you want to play the game and what gives you enjoyment. Some people want to acquire a lot of land before they start building lots of stuff. Have you looked at the cost of land squares further out from the center? You'll be spending a pretty penny. Myself, I haven't bought lots of land (or water). A bunch of my buildings are fairly crowded together at the moment, but once I've completed all the quest lines I'll start saving up for more land purchases.
I think overall the game does a pretty good job of balancing out prices with your rough expected income, and increasing incrementally those prices. Things always annoyingly seem "just out of reach", but then eventually you get there and soon after you're all "that wasn't so bad."
I played fairly minimal. I didn't build out Krustyland (or even buy the shuttle) until I was forced to at level 44 or whenever. I didn't build out Squidport much until I had to. I didn't buy tons of land. I first bought buildings that came with characters (and were part of quest lines). I didn't buy many "extra" non-quest buildings (but likely will eventually). Even after you shoot your wad, so to speak, the money starts accumulating again at a quick pace, assuming you have dozens of characters and lots of buildings. I started playing in mid-October or so.- smohqyNew SpectatorFirst off: you must not live near a coast. That is crazy expensive land and water IRL. :)
Second: you're level 38 and are still at the $10,000 tile point? That's a good place to be. Keep building them as long as you have the ca$h for them, even if you can't afford the water. Because when you DO have the water, you'll be happy not to wait the increasingly long time between tiles.
Third: don't wait weeks and months between buying buildings to save up cash. Buildings EARN cash. Buy what the levels require, and then some. You'll eventually hit a point where what you bring in from buildings is more than you'll need to 'stay even.'
Fourth: level 38, $10k tiles, not buying buildings, and you have over a mil stashed? You're very on par, if not ahead of the curve, cashwise. Drop 300k or so of that on some of your favorite buildings and maybe a bit more land and let them do the earning for you. You can't win Monopoly by just rolling the dice and going around the board. You need houses and hotels that pay you back. ***THIS IS IN NO WAY AN ENDORSEMENT FOR HOUSE FARMING!*** Gah, house farms. *shudder*
FIFTH AND MOST IMPORTANT: I cannot stress this enough - DO NOT WORRY ABOUT WHAT TILES/LAND/BUILDINGS COST! DO NOT WORRY ABOUT WHERE YOU ARE IN THE GAME! Heed my words; enjoy the game as it unfolds. Do not feel the need to hurry yourself to where a lot of us are - at the end of everything that would lie ahead. When you get through those last 11 levels (maybe 12 by then, who knows), you'll be like the rest of us: standing at the end of a road, waiting for another little stretch of it to be built. Take your time. Enjoy the ride as it unfolds. Spend your money on buildings you like, it will pay off.
Think of it this way: When we're children, all we wanted was to be grownups. Then when you're a grownup, OH, to be a child again.
Have fun!
Edit: fixed suggesting spending 3 mil of your 1 mil on stuff. My math slipped away from me. - @Stinkbugger, I started playing last August so we're pretty close there. I really have not bought anymore land than I need. Just enough to make an even square but not cram everything together.
I only play freemium. Building my Springfield and decorating it is as serious as I'm taking it. Just a fun virtual toy pretty much. I love video games but in terms of this its not exactly a game and having premium buildings and such isn't worth real life money imo.
@smohqy, That's good advice and pretty much what I've been doing. I did a bit of house farming at first but it's ugly and really don't need to do that now anyway. I consider myself to have pretty good patience. I just think some of the things are kinda ridiculous cause like...what's the point? Just to be annoying? Premium items I understand but even some of those are absurd. Some of the smallest, mundane things cost donuts and I'm like...really? - _ - - 4junk3000New Spectator

because its so stupid. It's not even making them actual profit. It's freaking boardwalk pieces. I've made it to the point where they now cost $10,000 a piece. Do they get higher?
It makes no sense and for newer players it's more annoying. I consider myself newer. I'm level 38 and have a little over a million dollars. Have been making one everyday til now.
I'm totally convinced some things were purposely designed just to tick people off. Guess they figure, hey it's a free game...let's mess with players.
I'm totally convinced some people get ticked off at really stupid stuff. So we all have theories....
You want to mess with EA? Don't ever give them any money. Now who's winning?
Keep it in a perspective that allows you peace and tranquility. Healthier.
