- I'm designing my system as best as I can. I don't remove or change anything until I need to, to accommodate the tracks. Some buildings are being moved, but not many. I had to move the nuclear plant, because, I couldn't figure out how to get around it, but with all the new plots that were available, I bought up all the land, which cost me a cool 19 million dollars. I'm not planning on covering my whole town, as is, after this event is over, if EA doesn't make tracks available in the store, there won't be enough track to work with. Right now, all 3 terminals are hooked up, and as I get new stretch's of track, I'm now working on hooking up from the Tetanus to the Krusty terminals. If EA see's fit to add track to the store after the event is over, then, i'll start redesigning. Except for all the bugs and glitch's this event has brought us, the Monorail is my favorite. New events with this much interest on my part are endless. I have a few thoughts on new events, that I might throw at EA.
The main terminal is centrally located. Krusty's is near the upper right with a complete downtown business center used mostly with Springfield Heights buildings and high rises, and the Tetanus terminal is towards the bottom right, where I also moved Cletus's farm. Since I have all the Spuckler kiddies, I thought a swimming pool with a water slide was in order. Now, I wish EA would allow the kiddies and all their friends to have pool parties, and maybe one or two kids running rampant all over the farm naked.
I have a pretty neat town. I've been working on it since 2012. I enjoy designing, and not just plopping down buildings where ever there is room. I don't have any 3D buildings or area's like so many have, but I think I've done pretty well, considering, after I downloaded this game, I didn't like it, and was about to dump the game, then decided to give it another week. Needless to say, I'm so addicted to this game, I think 72 hours of observation at a hospital's nut ward, shots of Ativan, and group therapy might be in order. - The only problem I see is WHEN will there be time to really organize the monorail the way I want. I've been waiting 6 months so I can blowup my town and do a remake but between work & event after event I got no time. I love the constant updates and am enjoying tsto more so this year than last but we really need a good two weeks of downtime so I can restructure my town.
- This is the most I have ever redesigned my town. Lots of areas of my town had to be redesigned, but it's well worth it because its going to look great once the event finishes. This is the best event ever. Being able to ride everyone's monorail will be awesome.
This is also the most active that I have ever been during an event. I'm trying to get as many bonus tracks as possible. I check the app several times a day. Everytime I have a little free time, I'm checking the app. josebot533 wrote:

I'm a big fan of redesigning in small chunks. Nuking your town is highly time consuming. It's just way too much to rebuild. I have one neighbor that had an amazing town, he nuked and he never got around to finishing it. He was overwhelmed by how long it would take to rebuild it. It's best to just redesign it in small chunks.llovany wrote:

Yes, absolutely in small chunks. Come November, I'll have been working on my town for 4 years. I can't see nuking, unless you have a really cruddy town to begin with, and just put buildings where ever, then it might be a good idea to nuke, especially if you want a really nice town. I have a few friends that do just that. Plop a building, right next to the last building. 10 Krusty Burgers, 5000 trees, and everything else in multitudes. I can't see playing like that. Why even bother, if you're not going to design with thought? Oh well, it's not my choice how someone decides to play this game. All I ask of my friends is to visit each day, especially during events. I have quite a few, that don't bother during non events, and that's okay, but come a new event, if someone that previously said they'd be a good neighbor and always visit, then stop during the next event, I wave bye bye, but do give them about a week or two, just in case they can't start right away.
Nicolknappen, thanks for accepting me. Even if you hadn't planned on visiting, I was intrigued to see your town, and I must admit, that not only is your Springfield pretty snappy, Krustyland is impressive too.
I had a couple decent sized empty spots in two areas already, so I just reserved those as two monorail station spots once the event started... so far I've only had to relocate two buildings. Other than that, I've only had to shift some little things (fences/trees/shrubs) or nudge a couple buildings a slot or two to one side or another to make room for where I want the track to go.... took two straight pieces and did a mock-layout of where the track will run (assuming I get enough), and placed curved pieces in the proper spots I'll need them when I get enough straight ones to get to that point. Looks a little odd at the moment with a free standing curved track off by itself, but eventually it will all come together.nicolknappen wrote:
As someone who is kind of right wing about having a polished design, this is hard to take... :)
I had no idea political preferences affected choices in design.- Frankly, I love my Springfield so I don't want to cover any of it up with a piece of track. However, my Springfield Heights is barely started, so once the event is over and I have a bit more time and knowledge of what to work with, I'm going to put my monorail there. My thinking is that the monorail in Springfield broke anyway so I might just have one or two random bits of track there but SH would have been able to fix it and get a good conductor because they're super rich!
- wadebearRetired HeroI'm hoping they let us move the monorail to Krustyland. It would fit in much better (most large theme parks have a people mover system) and I have SO MUCH empty space available there...

I've made the decision not to do any major design work with the monorail until I know how much and what types of track I have available to work with so for now I'm happy just connecting the stations with a few bits of track.
Yup, that's exactly what I did. My town isn't especially well-designed or attractive, but I didn't think it made sense to create a monorail that I'd change/add to every couple of days.
Once the event is done and I have all the track I'm gonna get, then I'll design a 'final monorail'.
I've also just added the pieces to the terminals without much thought. Again, I'll design them better when I know I won't get any more additions.
Until then, I have a simple oval design:
