PC Lagging - High CPU flux/overheating PC
Hello,
Skate. near impossible to play due to concerns of how taxing it has become on my PC as of late - it used to be just fine - but either since latest Windows, Nvidia or game updates, a number of things have since become severely unstable.
Symptoms:
- CPU sits around an average of ~70-90% usage only when running Skate after roughly 30 minutes of gameplay.
- The PC itself noticibly runs hotter, exerting hotter air after only 20-30 minutes of gameplay.
- Running any other apps (Discord, Chrome, Spotify, etc) has considerable lag. Even trying to taking screenshots or typing while Skate is running is met with abhorrent lag and delays.
- Making changes to in-game display settings (even performance-heavy changes) seems to make little to no effect, suggesting that the game may be bypassing processing via GPU entirely.
- Stickers on skateboard decks are no longer visble - notably since Skate. Winter season/latest Nividia driver updates.

Important Notes to Consider:
- No other game causes such experiences, even after hours of gameplay. This includes graphically-heavy online games such as PUBG or ARC Raiders, or even heavily modded games such as Baldurs Gate 3, Spider-Man or Mass Effect Trilogy (Remastered).
- This ONLY occurs, when playing Skate. and the listed issues were non-existent until Winter Roll-stice update.
- Google & GPT suggests making alterations in Nvidia Control Panel specifically for Skate.exe to help allievate the pressure on the CPU and GPU load balancing, which should NOT be a cure or answer for these issues as I have never had to do so for any other game.
My Specs:
GPU: GeForce RTX 4060Ti
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700X (8-Core, 4.5 GHz)
RAM: 32 GB
