Chess tables are unusable in the library - noticeable in Willow Creek library.
When trying to use the chess tables (any style of chess table) my sim "does not have permission to use the chess table".
I have replaced them and the same thing happens - yet chess table is a requirement of the Library plot type!

Same its not just events its after the events have finished all pubic lot sims can’t use the chessboard at all
I thought it was just community lots, but I was just invited over to a neighbor’s house, they had a chess board, and experienced the same issue. The option to Play or Play With is grayed out, and it says my Sim doesn’t have permission to use the object.
This has just started happening to me Morgan needed to get her logic up and there is a chess table at work. I thought great do it while at work. But no cant use it. tried willow creek library and the park still no luck. had to buy a chess for home lot instead. i thought this had been fixed a while ago
All chess tables are unusable except for those owned by the household being played, confirmed on console
I am currently having this issue. I do not play with mods or CC, I've repaired my game, and I've replaced the chess boards.
The chess tables in some lots don't let me use them, they say permission is needed. This issue has been going on for several months in my game but recently more chess tables that I could use before don't let me anymore.
I don't and never have used mods.
Hoping this is fixed for the upcoming event (December 16), but doubtful since it wasn't mentioned on any patch notes and we aren't getting any more updates until January I guess
This bug is going on for me but I don't have any discovery quests/scenarios/anything like that active in my save. It is the same save that I used to do the last few discovery quests though.
