In regard to what you two are saying (I consider both posts helpful) there are two issues that are making it hard to align advice with a solution, LOL:
1 - Sometimes the lot works and sometimes it doesn't. (This is actually a victory: It wasn't working at all.)
2 - Based on a random comment that crinrict made, I believe my issue is tied to celebrity "script" or coding. The biggest problem lot is the place where the Itos lived (!!!), but the method both of you talk about here -- switching and then switching back -- has worked for me in other contexts in game:
(university housing wasn't tagged for correct university -- set it, set it to something else, set it back)
(business wasn't initializing properly -- open it, close it, reopen it)
and so on.
