I don't know if anyone has already found a solution but I did!
I fixed it by deleting their relationship (with a mod either UI cheats or MC Command Centre). After doing that everything schould work just fine.
This problem was not caused by a mod. My sims were teens when they fell in love and after they aged up they couldn't woohoo nor break up.
