Panning camera stutters

Update: After playing more with this patch, I realised this is not world-dependent, but I'm experiencing stuttering of the camera when panning or when following a Sim with the camera in any world, since the Businesses and Hobbies patch. An easy way to see the jumping of the camera is when letting a Sim ride a bike and following them with right click on their profile and the camera positioned in a profile view of the Sim on the bike.
I also now tested it on Mac too, and it happens the same there, so I'd rule out it has to do with a specific hardware.
crinrictI've updated the title to reflect it is not world dependent, hope that's ok?

When in the new world Nordhaven, in the neighbourhood Gammelvik, for example loaded into live mode into the Loden family in their pre-set house Koffieboon, and then panning around with the camera slowly across the map, the movements stutter a lot.

Repro steps:

  • I started noticing it as early as 8am, for example when panning from the museum towards koffieboon and further into that direction and circuling back to the swimmable area next to museum. It feels like the marketplace area is always problematic during day time.
  • It's not happening in the evening hours, but becomes strong during daytime, for example 11am - 2pm.T
  • he weather did not matter, i had it during sunshine, rain and during fog. It was late spring nearly summer in my saves.

The fps I usually have is 60 - 170 and during those camera stutter jumps it drops to 40-60, I'm on a gaming PC with a NVidia GeForce RTX 3080. My GPU reaches 100% in this neighbourhood, especially when my camera looks at the city from above the swimmable area.
I'm on max Graphic settings since years, and never had that issue before. I'm also on directX11. I updated all drivers just before the deeper testing to see if it has to do with any of them, but the issue persists. I have tested without mods and with the default lots only, before building anything. On a fresh new save I can reproduce that after some time passes, again only during day time.

I use Sims 3 camera, and this happens when panning along the map with the right mouse button held down and a light birds-eye view (either fully zoomed out or slightly zoomed in) panning slowly, but also when being close to my Sims and panning on the streets from one house to the next.

When I go to Tartosa to compare during the same day time it stutters less (even though I have all lots built out) but even there since the BH patches I have now a worse movement performance. It feels like something changed in this year's patches that made camera movements stuttering.

I can attach a video of it, if that helps?

EDIT: Removed tag for pack since any world is affected. karoschmitz sure that's fine to adjust titles even if I adjusted them if there's new info available :D

Playing a bit longer with this patch I realised that I have this new lag in all worlds. Something has changed and made panning the camera, rotating around Sims and zooming stuttery. It doesn't stutter constantly but only when I move the camera for the first few seconds, especially when rotating, after that it becomes fluent again, then when i move it again and it again stutters.. it seems like it is loading something in the background when moving the camera around, and that brings down the fps to around 40-50 and stutters all camera movements. Once it stops stuttering it goes back to 120 fps.
It feels quite disruptive and makes me a bit motion sick. I have a strong gaming computer that never had these issues before the last patch.

I'm wondering if this happens to others too, or if this is connected to the specific graphic card type or so?

My game stutter periodically. I even opened help for this but I couldn't find the solution. I'm experiencing this on 2 different devices. Sometimes there is a one-second drop every 2 minutes, sometimes every 5 minutes. And I also experience what you say. I think no one realizes this.

    Another observation to add:

Whenever the camera movement through the world stutters, the "Copy" section of my GPU Performance in Task Manager goes up, not a lot but it is usually flat on 0 and always has a bump up when it stutters. Maybe that helps with the debugging.
I also recorded a video to show the stuttering, keep in mind i'm on a strong PC that so far had fully fluent movements with no issues or lags, so this stuttering since one of the last patches is very new to me, and now happens in all worlds constantly, I barely have any fluent camera movements: I'll share the link to it if any of the devs are interested in a DM, let me know!

  • I am experiencing this too. My PC setup is RTX3080, i912900K, 64GBRAM, directX11 installed on NVME M.2. The game is stuttering when moving the camera and panning the camera around in the world drops my FPS down to low 30.

Whatever graphical changes that was made after the BH patch was devastating to computer setups like mine. I managed to solve this by following karosschmitz other thread where they solve it by changing the LOD settings for ObjectQuality and SimQuality Camera movements very choppy since BH patch | EA Forums - 12185589 in the GraphicsRules.sgr file and putting it in the ConfigOverride folder.

With those changes my game is so much smoother now. It's running around 100 FPS.
