If my Sims leave their household lot, and I save on another lot, the photos and reference paintings left at home will turn black and be lost. If I hold my breath and don't save until I'm back at the home lot, the images survive.
If that's true for everyone else, players with only one household can probably continue to play - as long as they remember not to save until they're back at the home lot. Risky business.
Any rotational players, legacy players, or those with saves where there are photographs and reference paintings on multiple lots, are going to have to make a gallery backup of any images they want to keep, and hope they'll be able to restore from it later. Or commit to building for the next few weeks until the February patch. Or just... do something else. From my point of view (of knowing nothing) I wonder why EA wouldn't roll back a failed patch. But maybe that's the price of a Coach handbag!
Most of us probably anticipated a fix being pushed through in the next few days, and we'd be mostly happy to noodle through it. But if the fix isn't coming until Feb, shouldn't that information be available without trawling through forum threads? Please put it on the game title screen, and keep us in the loop!
