[PLEASE READ] Save Game Corruption

Wow Nathaniel’s1! I thought I had some of the largest save files at around 121MB! I started experiencing this issue when I installed Life & Death and Lovestruck when my save files exceeded 107MB. I then uninstalled L&D and LS and then deleted almost half of my 90 properties which did not include the almost half of the default builds that came with the game. This reduced my save file to around 94MB. So I thought that along with too many objects that my save file could not exceed 104MB. I was incorrect. My save file is now 121MB and the Willow Creek lot is still there. However, what I find interesting is that whenever I move any of my 720 sims to temp lots in order to make changes in CAS full edit mode, the game file size increases. I have not added any new sims or objects since the my save file was 94MB but each time I used MCCC to move sims between households to update them in CAS, my save file increases. Because I deleted half my lots back in December to get rid of the save corruption, I since then have used MCCC to combine my sims in the remaining larger houses I have since I now have an average of 24 sims per household now and I have around 40 households. I also have a powerful PC so the only issues I experience are longer load times and it takes a few minutes for all of the sims in the house to start moving autonomously because the game has to process so many at one time but once they get moving, everything is fine.
One thing that I always do now since EA removed the orange triangle warnings above corrupted lots is that I always go into build mode on the Willow Creek archive lot after making any significant changes to see if the lot is still intact. I also save the game many times while playing. I now probably have around 10,000 save files but I also have around 10TB of storage on external drives. This way if I see any problems, I can easily go back and find the save file where the problem started and I don’t lose much progress. This is extremely tedious but much easier than me losing months of saves because of the save corruption. I also always delete the “local cache” files prior to restarting the game and I always start the game by going to “Load Save File”. I found that it is not good to start the game by going to “Resume”. As soon as I am in the game, before I do anything, I go into the Willow Creek Archive in build mode to make sure the lot is still there. If it is, I know I am good to go. Also, since I have so many sims (727) I always check the total number by going into game options and the gameplay to make sure the total number is always 727. I found out the hard way back when i was using MCCC to move sims that sometimes it would crash and I would lose sims forever. Again, all the moving of sims, file saving, lot checking is tedious and not how I ever thought I would have to play the game but I am now at a point where I can never add any more content to the game and I can never have rental properties.
My plan is as soon as I update my remaining 120 sims with the new stuff and traits from L&D and LS, I am done with the game except for occasional gameplay. I hate to say this but I really don’t have any hope that EA can fix the game unless they start over from scratch. I am very technically savvy and I know that fixing is almost impossible because the game is too old. They just need to accept that and make a new game.
