Update – DX9 vs DX11:
Tested moving my household back into the affected lot under both DX11 and DX9.
On DX11, purchasing the lot without furniture and saving to the Tray still produces a “server error”.
On DX9, moving in with furniture allows the Solarpunk Longhouse v1 lot to save successfully to the Tray, despite initially throwing a server error.
Tray draft loads much faster under DX9.
Implication:
This suggests the issue may be related to DX11 rendering or serialization handling, and using DX9 can allow the lot to be saved successfully.
✅ Bug Report: “Server Error. We cannot process this Gallery Request” — Lot Serialization Fails in Clean Game
Platform: PC (Windows 11)
Game Version: Latest patch as of November 4, 2025
Mods/CC: None
Distribution: Steam
✅ Description
Attempting to save lots or rooms to the Gallery/Library/Tray triggers a “Server Error” dialog.
This happens consistently on many lots, including:
Vanilla EA lots (e.g., 6-4-1 Hanamigawa)
Custom large builds
Empty bulldozed lots
However, some lots DO save successfully (e.g., Streamlet Single), which suggests the issue is not universal and not caused by a locked user folder or broken Tray.
In many cases where the error appears, no files are written to the Tray, meaning serialization failed completely.
✅ What Happens
Click Save to Library
Progress spinner appears briefly
Popup: “Server Error. We cannot process this Gallery Request”
Check Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Tray → empty
Repeating the save attempt shows the same outcome
Some small/simple lots save normally (e.g., Streamlet Single), confirming that the Gallery export pipeline works, but fails on many standard or large lots
✅ Expected Result
Saving any lot or room should generate .trayitem, .blueprint, .bpi files in the Tray and appear in My Library
No “Server Error” should appear during local-only export
✅ Observed Result
“Server Error. We cannot process this Gallery Request” blocks export
Works only on some lots (small/simple ones)
Larger or more complex lots fail 100% of the time
Error occurs even offline, suggesting it is local serialization, not a network error
✅ Lots Tested
✅ Streamlet Single — saves normally, no error
❌ 6-4-1 Hanamigawa — fails with server error
❌ Custom megabuilds — fail with server error
❌ Bulldozed lots — fail
❌ Single-room exports — often fail
✅ Troubleshooting Performed
Verified files through Steam and EA App
Full clean reinstall of The Sims 4
Removed Mods/CC entirely
Deleted localthumbcache.package
Created brand-new clean user folder (renamed old folder, let game regenerate a fresh one)
Tested on a brand-new save
Evicted household on desired lot
Bulldozed the lot
Tried saving rooms instead of lots
Result:
Some lots save successfully (Streamlet Single)
Many lots still throw “Server Error” and almost always produce no Tray files
This confirms:
Tray folder works
Serializer works on some lots
Issue is specific to lot complexity or serialization logic, not corrupted user folders
✅ Additional Notes
Problem predates the latest patch
The latest patch fixed an unrelated Live Mode crash, but Tray export errors continued before and after
Because some lots save successfully, the issue appears to be in the validation stage of serialization, not writing permissions or mods
Many players have reported this over the past 2+ years; still marked “Under Investigation”
✅ Request
Please investigate the Gallery/Tray serialization failure affecting non-mod, non-rental, vanilla lots.
Since some lots save and others always fail, there may be a validation error or size/complexity threshold that breaks the export pipeline.
A fix, or at least more descriptive error output, would help players preserve builds without losing progress.
