I want to report a bug? - Shift-click, no matter on what, no longer works since the latest "Nature is Calling" patch. "Testingcheats" is activated, but has no effect. I noticed this today when I tried to reset my sim and pet which got stuck between walls. It doesn't work anymore, at least not in my game. I had to go into build mode and delete the wall to free my sim and pet.

Same with plants, when you shift-clicked on them before the patch, there was an option to change the gardening state, not anymore. I know there were changes done to the plants because of the new pack, but I heard nothing about not being able to shift-click to reset anything amore. It just doesn't work  - Tested without mods to make sure before posting here. All was fine before the patch.

  • Hi. Just a short update. The shift-click still works now. Maybe the new installation of the game helped. So I ssume that the issue is solved. Thanks for participating 😺

  • Hm, working fine for me

Does it not pop up anything or just the normal menu you would have without testingcheats ?

Do other cheats that need testingcheats work for you ?

I supposed you tried a game repair ?

  • Thanks for testing. In my game it behaves like "testingcheats" isn't even activated. I just recently repaired the game several times because of the pitch black issue, so that can't be it. Maybe testingcheats does not work for me, no clue why. Does shift-click on a sim to reset him works for you?

edit to add: Just tried again with an older (modded) save file and would you believe this? shift-click works in there, but not in my newer created save file! Why is this happening? Could there be something wrong with the cheat itself not working right? - Will create another NEW save file, run a repair once again and see what happens then and let you know. This is really crazy.

Depending on the mods you have it could have one that activates testingcheats for you.

Did it say cheat enabled when you put in the cheat in the cheat console ?

Yes I have TwistedMexi's "enable all cheats" in and yes, it said cheat enabled. - But here comes the news.

I repaired the game again, created a new save file, testingcheats on, no mods, tested shift-click on sim and plant and it worked. Ended the game and reloaded it, tried same thing again, not working! This is a really nerve wracking experience. Never had that before. Something must be wrong with the cheat without the cheat file from TwistedMexi. What else could it be? Guess I will make a complete re-install of the whole game. - Not sure what to do with this thread now since it looks like I'm the only one with the issue 😕

To be sure, you re-added the cheat when you reopened the game ? They did change it that it should stay on a save (and does for me) but just making sure, that's not the problem that the cheat just resets when you reopen the game.

Do skilling cheats work ? I believe they need testing cheats to work.

Oh? That's news to me that they leave it "on" in a save game. I guess it isn't working properly for me. And yes, I added the "testingcheats on" again when I reloaded. Like I said, it worked first in the new test save without mods, but it didn't anymore on my reload. Maybe "auto-reset" is the case for me, who knows why. So far it only works properly when I add TwistedMexi's "AllCheats" script file. And yes, every other cheat works.
My last attempt will be a complete reinstall of the game, since fixing it over and over didn't help. Thanks for this information though. Will get back to you as soon as I have reinstalled and tested the game. Have a nice Sunday Crinrict and thanks for the response.

  • Back to report my results:

So I made a comlete new installation of the game and EA APP.  Cleaned out EVERYTHING from my system that said EA games or Sims 4 ;) - Cleaned out registry and leftovers. Installed everything again, tested "testingcheats" in game, and now it seams to work, even on reload. Lets hope that it will stay that way, fingers crossed.
