I updated today (5-12-26, Patch 1.124). I have no mods in my game.
The child Sim won't eat when clicking on a plate of food or getting a quick meal. The child just sits with plate and "eat" in his cue, but does not eat the food or increase the hunger motive. The child also didn't animate for using the monkey bars or chemistry table, although they did gain mental and fitness skill while just standing there idling.
I merged your post with the thread for eating that's still open.
Please create separate threads for each the monkey bar and the chemistry table. For me they both work fine though.
