Well, it's been like a year since the eye bug issues have been present. Over 500 votes and lots of comments, yet the eye bug issues are still in the game. For instance, Sims eyes are not able close all the way for most of the animations. Eyelids going into the eyes, lighter eyelashes with preset eyes etc. So, I think it might be a while before we see a fix for this bug, if any at all.
