Teenager doesn’t get third trait on aging/no Graduation

Just had a sim age up from a teen to a young adult. No notification popped up to select a new trait so they are stuck with 2 traits still when they should have 3. Additionally, they graduated from high school with "average rank" whilst being an A student (with the gold tick). I've only ever had sims age up with at least the "graduated with honours" trait whilst being an A student. For context, this child was adopted so unsure if this has anything to do with it, although I've had sims adopt in the past and this bug hasn't happened. This sim also didn't age up with the "high self esteem" trait from child to teen despite having high confidence as a child.

  • I know there is a discussion about this already but I can't find it, but I've been having this issue since October where if there is more than one teen sim in my household at once something triggers during the time of them being a teen and then when they age up they don't get the pop up to choose a new trait or aspiration. It's so frustrating that this is still an issue, and it's honestly game breaking when you're trying to play a legacy, which is all I play. I can't get through even one generation without this happening.

I was worried this would happen with my new save, and it just did, even though I turned off active high school and the follow prompts. I didn't have my sims sign up for after school sports or go to prom but the issue still happened. Teen sims will age up properly if it's within a week of them aging into teens, so I just don't know what's going on.

I don't use Mods or CC. I've sent in saves where this issue is happening before but I now have another one so I'm happy to send in this one too if needed.

Has anyone found a workaround for this issue yet?

  • I've been having this issue for months, though only when there are multiple teen sims in my household at once. Does everyone who has this issue have high school years? I'm tempted to disable it to see if that fixes anything but I don't know how and don't want to break my game.

  • I'm still having this issue too. My teens are not receiving their 3rd trait nor do they get the additional traits for being in the range on the of positive rewards.

This has happened to me twice now in the space of a couple of days... I aged up one set of sims, didn't get any bonus traits or the third trait so I went back to a previous saved version of the sims, put them in a new game and it was fine. Her kids (twins, no other children) have just aged into adults and the same thing happened!! Thank goodness I missed a couple scout badges, would have been well annoyed to not get that trait!
I have HSY, no mods or CC.
    Ruins the game every time.

  • I have been getting the exact same issue for a while now.. a few months maybe. only now I am having my infants/toddlers age up to either teen or young adult and completely skipping child and teen stages. it is highly annoying and makes me not want to play. i have tried changing the lifespans. short, regular and long. starting a new save. it just keeps happening. also doesn't matter if i have a child normally or by science/adoption. please sims team fix this!!

also not using mods or any cc

Same issue here, none of my teens get a 3rd trait when they grow up using a birthday cake (I haven't tried without the cake yet). I have to add it manually in CUS

When Teenage Sims age up to young adults they will get the option of a third Trait.

    Fixed in Patch 1.114.46/2.12
Please create a new thread if you're still experiencing this issues

I doubt that existing Sims with only two traits are fixed with this patch. Either take them to CAS with fulleditmode or add the traits with traits.equip_trait or a mod.

  • I know there was a previous thread on here about the same issue but it was marked as fixed so I can no longer respond to it.

I'm currently playing in a legacy save where I aged up my teen into a young adult, I noticed a pop up never came to give him a new trait. At the time I wasn't super worried and I figured I could just go into cas and update him later. Well later when I did finally go into cas it wouldn't even give me the option to give him a trait. It was like he was still a teen and only had two trait options. This sim wasn't my heir so I again wasn't super worried and figured it was just a one time thing. But now I've aged up his brother into a young adult and he's also having the same issue. The sim I'm using for my heir is still a child so I have a little bit until she ages up but now that both of her brothers have had this issue I'm scared she will to and it'll ruin the gameplay idea I had for her.

I play on xbox so obviously no mods but I do own quite a few packs.
