[XB/PS] Controls/Action Menus stop working (Patch 2.37)

I had just booted up the game and loaded up my save when I went to interact with the computer. The interaction menu thing for the computer came up and I could use the left stick freely to move around the options, however when trying to select an option I was unable to. I was also unable to do anything else within the game such as back out of the menu open up the main menu to save and exit, open up the controls screen, unpause the game and everything else. I sat there for a few minutes as I’ve had this happen before and it normally goes away. It did not. Every button apart from moving the left stick and the Xbox button didn’t work so it’s definitely an issue with the game. I just completely shut down the game and tried again a few hours later after restarting my console.

I had the same issue again in the same save but this time I was able to click the “Write…” option and almost start having my sim write a book using the computer until it stopped on the screen where it ask you to name the book and write a description of it where the exact same thing happened again. This is making my game completely unplayable as it seems to be one of those bugs that is just inevitable in my save no matter how many times I restart my console and load up the save again.

I did some testing in a different save and had a different issue where I couldn’t interact with the computer at all but my controls worked perfectly fine with everything else so it seems to be an issue with computers?

I’m experiencing an issue in Live Mode where interactions become temporarily unresponsive. When I select a Sim or an object, the interaction menu appears as normal. I can move through the available options, but I can’t actually select any of them. After a few seconds, the game starts responding again, but the issue keeps happening throughout gameplay. This happens repeatedly and is making the game difficult to play. I also play on Xbox.

Hey Jenzonfn,

Sorry to hear that the interactions menu is unresponsive for a bit before working again. If you haven't already, can you try power cycling your console and making sure your game and console are both up to date to see if there's any improvement?

Is this occurring exclusively with the interaction menu, or are you noticing similar controller-related issues (such as certain selection buttons not working) throughout your gameplay, like with the following bug: [XB/PS] Controls not responding?

When I try to make a new game or even use an existing sim I cannot change any of their features. To be more specific when I try to start a new game and I go to click on their face it zooms in and nothing shows up. No presets for eyes, nose or mouth, nothing. I can move them around and every now and then the magnifying glass to the left will pop up to go into the more detailed shaping. Same with clothes, if I click on their chest or legs no clothing options show up. Unsure if there is any issues in the building mode that would be similar I haven’t gotten to play the game. So unfortunate I just bought a $40 expansion pack without knowing there was a bug making the game unplayable.

Whenever I click on any object, the selection of actions appears but then all of the buttons on my controller stop working to click on an option, including pulling up the game menu to exit, so I have to completely shut the game down. Makes the game impossible to play other than moving the camera before clicking anything.

I've been having this issue on almost everything where the menu pops up. None of the buttons work, including the menu button to save and exit. Game is currently unplayable.

Me too. It’s if I click anything after playing for a few minutes. I was trying to tend to my garden and the options are all there and it lets me move to options but when I press A, it doesn’t do anything. I can’t get out of the menu and continue the game. I keep having to restart it but it keeps happening. Game is unplayable right now 😭

This has happened all day today, making the game nearly unplayable. At any given moment all buttons become unresponsive so that I can't even save before exiting. I am have lost many game hours recently due to this but today it has been almost every half hour that this occurs. I have restored the license several times but nothing has changed in regards to the responsivity of the buttons.
